Glass Beach is a beach with sand glass. Glass rocks are scattered along this beach. This unique beach is in MacKerricher National Park, near Fort Bragg City, California. The sand of this glass is not present suddenly, but rather through the process of many years. It was said that at the beginning of the 20th century, the beach was 150 thousand square meters and it turned out to be the landfill of the inhabitants of Fort Bragg city. They dump any garbage to it, such as glass, kitchen utensils, even up to used cars.
Therefore, this beach is called "The Dumps " by the inhabitants of the neighborhood. Sometimes, there is also burning on the beach to reduce the garbage that is mountain. In fact, the local municipal government once closed the beach to be cleaned because it was filled with garbage in the 1960 's. In 1967, the government shut down the area to order garbage. From then on, the beach was cleaned and repaired.
Afterwards, an unexpected natural phenomenon occurs. Apparently, the waves managed to turn the bottle trash and glass there into something beautiful. After all these years, the glass trash there turned into rocks. The glass rocks are no longer sharp, but they are flattened and soft. Not only the shape, the rocks are interesting because of the variety of colors. The waves around the beach transform glass bins, glass and bottles into rocks over the years.
Nobody suspects this at all! This natural phenomenon makes Glass Beach a tourism destination. Many people come here to be curious about the sand of the glass, many of which want to take home the unique sand as an by. In the past, visitors can still take this glass rock freely. The bebatis is colourful and very beautiful. Therefore, the beach that was once a dump was changed name Glass Beach. The bebatis also not sharp, but smooth and soft. Some of them are white, black, yellow, red, and many more.
Not only on the shore, but the color rocks are also below sea level. However, after the 150,000 square metre beach was taken over by MacKerricher National Park, the glass rocks were also protected. As Glass Beach is part of MacKerricher National Park, visitors are not allowed to take the glass rocks there for a takeaway. Visitors can come and enjoy this beach for unlimited, but should not take the glass rocks that are here. However, there are still visitors who secretly pocket a glass of stone to take home. If you come here, visitors should use a thick soles of the sandals. This is to avoid the possibility of glass cubes that are here broke and could hurt the foot of visitors.
